Automechanika Shanghai offers record number of exhibitors
Automechanika Shanghai 2013 opened on December 10 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China, with the largest number of exhibitors in the show’s 10-year history. Click here to link to interviews and photos from the show.
The total number of exhibitors for the four-day show is 4,618, representing 38 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, The Netherlands, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA and Vietnam.
Commenting on the record number of exhibitors Jason Cao, Senior General Manager, Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd said: “We are now the second biggest Automechanika show in the world. This year we have seen a 15 percent increase in international exhibitors based on 523 international exhibitors in 2013 and 453 for our latest show. In terms of Chinese exhibitors, this year we have 4,095, which represents an increase of 12 percent matched against the 3,656 exhibitors for the 2012 show. The increased exhibitor number reflects the fact that the show is well recognized as an ideal marketing platform for new and existing business relationships.”
A further look at exhibitor figures for the 210,000 square meter show, which consists of 17 established halls and seven temporary halls, reveals the following industry sector breakdown by square meter percentage increase compared to last year:
• Parts & Components: 10% increase
• Repair & Maintenance: 20% increase
• Accessories & Tuning: 100% increase
Three new country pavilions, various key brands and a new supporter make their debut
Altogether this year’s show has attracted 17 pavilions with first time pavilions from Australia, Poland and Tunisia. The returning pavilions are from France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK and USA.
The show is also attracting new key auto brands as well as returning exhibitors that include:

The expected number of local and international visitors is more than 80,000. Boosting the number are visitor groups from all over the world including Australia, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Thailand and Turkey. From China, apart from provinces such as Anhui, Fujian and Guangdong, more delegations from second and third-tier cities of inland provinces such as Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shangdong, Shijiazhuang and Sichuan are coming to the show.
Visitors are able to view many different zones showcasing the latest products and technologies. Among these is the Auto Air-Conditioning Zone located in Hall E5 with 200 exhibitors.
The zone aims to give industry players an overview about how innovative air-conditioning systems are globally used for energy-saving and emission reduction.
Another new zone for this year’s show is the Commercial Vehicle Parts Zone. Commenting on this zone, Xuecheng Ji, President of CNAICO explained: “Automechanika Shanghai has partnered with the China Commercial Vehicle Parts Market Federation and invited 30 quality overseas buyers from the purchasing departments of auto manufacturers who are attending the show to visit the zone for networking and purchasing.” Invited buyers include representatives from leading manufacturers such as Delphi, Deutz, Eaton Magna and Remy and purchasing departments of manufacturers such as Daihatsu, Daimler, European Union Chamber of Commerce, Isuzu, JCB, MAN, Navistar, PACCAR/DAF, Scania, IVECO, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
Furthermore, the show is supported by a list of 35 supporters, including the first time participation of Auto & Motor Parts Chamber of Commerce of National Federation of Industry and Commerce, Automobile Accessories Sub-Council from China.
Forty fringe programs available to visitors and exhibitors
As well as being Asia’s largest trade fair for auto parts, accessories, equipment and services, the show is recognized for its diverse range of fringe program subjects, catering to all industry sectors. This year’s show offers 40 fringe programs, 10 more than last year. Highlights include:
