Schaeffler takes visitors to the garage of tomorrow at Automechanika Frankfurt
Interactive and clear explanations of complex repair solutions – at their 1,000 square meter stand (Forum: Level 0, Stand A01) Schaeffler will take Automechanika visitors to the garage of tomorrow. With its LuK, INA and FAG brands, the Automotive Aftermarket division of Schaeffler is the system specialist for transmission, engine and chassis, and will be exhibiting its innovative products and services at the show. The company will demonstrate how its system expertise can help meet growing demands from the Automotive Aftermarket today and in the future as well. Schaeffler wants to achieve this by means of its extensive portfolio of transmission systems, its comprehensive system expertise in key engine systems, and its wide-ranging program for the safety-relevant chassis.
A look into the future using mixed and augmented reality
Schaeffler’s trade fair stand looks into the future this year. Highlight will be a look through mixed-reality glasses. Live at the stand, technical experts will demonstrate how the replacement of a dual-mass flywheel (DMF) and a timing chain can be possible in real time using interactive support. Here the everyday work at a garage and virtual knowledge transfer merge into one. “We want visitors to our trade fair stand to not only be spectators,” says Michael Söding, CEO Automotive Aftermarket, Schaeffler AG. “They should also become part of our product world and experience up close the ‘more’ that we deliver. It’s not by chance that our motto is ‘Get more – be part of it.” In addition, augmented reality will be used to present the company’s core competencies of transmission, engine and chassis. With the use of tablets, these technologies will be presented clearly and in a way that’s easy to understand. Visitors will be able to get information at different levels of detail, depending on what they are interested in. When visitors hold their tablets in front of one of the three augmented reality displays (transmission, engine and chassis), virtual information about the intelligent repair solutions and special tools from Schaeffler will appear on the screen. Visitors can even request additional facts about the company’s portfolio, market coverage and the potential for the Automotive Aftermarket business. The correct way to use the special tools will be explained simply and clearly with the help of virtual animation and interactive elements as well.
A look behind the scenes at future vehicle technologies
As part of the “Tomorrow’s Service und Mobility” theme of this year’s trade fair, Schaeffler will also offer an exciting look with its “Schaeffler Glass Car”. This exhibit is outfitted with about 40 products and technologies from the Schaeffler world – including the EClutch, the electromagnetic roll stabilizer, the thermal management module and the electric axle. And with its service brand REPXPERT, Schaeffler is firmly focused on the future as well. At five workbenches, technical experts will be demonstrating how the company’s products and repair solutions can support garages with their work today. At the workbenches, tablets will be used again and have a direct link to the REPXPERT online portal. Using the portal, REPXPERT users can find and procure the right spare parts easily and quickly, and receive optimal support for professional repair. In addition to this, they can access all material available for a Schaeffler product – like installation
videos, technical brochures and service information.
An eye-catcher this year will be the Audi e-tron FE04 currently being driven in the Formal- E series, which will be on display at a special area in front of the trade fair hall. It’s fully electrically-powered and demonstrates how Schaeffler technology has proven itself even under the toughest racing conditions.
Another highlight will be the AUDI RS5 DTM Show Car from Schaeffler, which will be displayed outdoors on the trade fair grounds.
