The Massachusetts Right to Repair Coalition has turned in 102,000 signatures, part of an initiative petition to enact an update to the Commonwealth's Right to Repair law before it reaches the 2020 ballot, to Secretary of State William Galvin's office. The petition, titled An Initiative Law to Enhance, Update, and Protect the 2013 Motor Vehicle Right to Repair Law, seeks to give car owners access to the diagnostic and repair data generated by their vehicle, as well as allowing the owner to provide access to that data to technicians of their choosing.
The Coalition said that a lack of progress on an update to the law spurred the initiative petition to ensure car owners in Massachusetts have access to aftermarket repair options.
