Hyundai recalls 10,575 vehicles for power relay under rear seat

Hyundai is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ioniq HEV and Ionic PHV vehicles, previously recalled under recall number 18V-704, due to the power relay assembly (PRA) located underneath the rear seat may overheat.

Hyundai is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ioniq HEV and Ionic PHV vehicles, previously recalled under recall number 18V-704, due to the power relay assembly (PRA) located underneath the rear seat may overheat.

An overheated PRA may cause fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). 

To remedy the situation, dealers will inspect and replace the main relay or PRA, as necessary, free of charge.

Owners will be notified via mail. Letters are expected to be mailed August 26, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. The Hyundai recall number is 232.

Vehicles that have already been repaired under the previous recall,18V-704, will need to have the new remedy completed.

To check to see if your vehicle has an open recall, visit NHTSA's website and enter the vehicle's 17-digit vehicle identification number.
