MAHLE to bring complete EV offerings for independent shops to Automechanika
• Trade fair innovations: BatteryPRO diagnostics and service solutions E-Scan, E-Health and E-Care
• EmissionPRO and PMU 400 exhaust analyzers for measuring particles from the tail pipe starting in 2023
• New developments for the calibration of driver assistance systems, air conditioning systems, and transmission oil service solutions
• A broad portfolio of filtration and engine components for conventional and alternative drives is another important part of the trade fair appearance
MAHLE Aftermarket comes to this year’s Automechanika in Frankfurt, Sept. 13-17, with a wide range of products. The focus of MAHLE’s presence at the trade fair for industry, workshops, and business is the new MAHLE BatteryPRO diagnostics and service solutions for electric vehicles: E-Scan, E-Health and E-Care. In addition, MAHLE is presenting workshop equipment for the calibration of driver assistance systems as well as air conditioning and transmission oil servicing solutions, through which the Stuttgart technology group specifically supports independent workshops with its replacement and service parts. The trade fair appearance is rounded out by a broad portfolio of engine parts and filters for conventional and alternative drives. MAHLE Aftermarket will be in Hall 9 at booths C01/C06/C16 and in the outdoor area at F11/E 41.
“Our presence at the Automechanika shows impressively how much the pace of our innovation has accelerated,” said Olaf Henning, member of the MAHLE Management Committee and director of the Aftermarket business unit. “With our solutions, we came in far ahead of the global competition, especially in the area of battery diagnostics.”
Since the end of March of this year, according to the company, MAHLE Aftermarket has been the world’s first supplier to enable independent workshops to perform battery diagnostics on electric vehicles with the MAHLE TechPRO diagnostic tool. By the end of the year, the E-Scan function will be expanded by the E-Health and E-Care equipment. E-Health performs diagnostics on vehicle batteries via the charging plug and evaluates the measured data in the cloud. This allows the state of a battery to be compared to all other recorded batteries of the same model in the fleet. In addition, E-Health generates a forecast of the remaining expected life of a vehicle. Since the start of 2022, the new diagnostics solution has been tested in practice together with TÜV NORD Mobilität and a well-known European fleet operator. E-Care is a service unit for performing maintenance on the cooling circuits of vehicle batteries. In this context, vehicle and coolant manufacturers set certain replacement intervals for the coolants used. MAHLE Aftermarket can thus enable repair shops to secure additional business volume beyond the internal combustion engine.
Emissions testing equipment
Another central topic of the trade fair appearance is the topic of exhaust gas—both with the EmissionPRO equipment from MAHLE as well as with the individual device MAHLE PMU 400 for measuring particles from the tail pipe, which will be mandatory in Germany at the beginning of 2023 as part of the TÜV general inspection. Thanks to the use of the condensation particle counter, the PMU 400 is also well-equipped for future changes in the law regarding tightened measurement tolerances and different engine types. In contrast to other measuring technologies on the market, the individual nanoparticles in the exhaust gas flow—especially in gasoline engines—can be measured precisely even in very low concentrations. This means the sample taken from the exhaust pipe can be diluted up to two hundred times with clean air to minimize the build-up of particles and dirt in the most sensitive parts of the measuring instrument. The PMU 400 is thus a particularly reliable and easy-to-maintain measuring instrument. It is also intuitive to use.
ADAS calibration, A/C and transmission fluid service
Other highlights of the trade show appearance are the MAHLE Tech PRO Digital ADAS for the calibration of driver assistance systems and the latest generation of the ACX A/C service unit series and the ATX transmission oil service unit series. The ongoing development of the Digital ADAS 2.0 shortens the calibration time even further and enables calibration in a few minutes. Thanks to special laser distance gauges that are connected directly to the diagnostic tool, the TechPRO Digital ADAS 2.0 can record all parameters of the vehicle alignment directly so that the calibration can be performed without manual input. Even the vertical positioning of the monitor takes place automatically. The system simultaneously allows the vehicle type to be gathered automatically through the license plate number, saving the operator the trouble of selecting the vehicle manually.
In addition, MAHLE is presenting its broad portfolio of filters and engine components at Automechanika. MAHLE Aftermarket already covers almost 100 percent of all hybrids and around 70 percent of all battery-electric vehicles across Europe with its filter solutions. At the same time, the company said it is expanding its electronics business unit to future-proof workshops in the face of changing mobility.
