2011 NACAT conference scheduled for Manitoba

The North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) will hold its 2011 Conference July 18-22 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) will hold its 2011 Conference July 18-22 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The conference will be hosted by Red River College and feature over 30 presentations covering the latest in automotive technology from some of the leading automotive instructors and trainers in the industry. Attendees of the NACAT conference will earn the 20 hours of professional development required by NATEF.

“The 2011 NACAT Conference continues the tradition of keeping automotive instructors up-to-date on the latest in vehicle technology and instructional aids to ensure that students receive the best possible education experience in automotive Career and Technical Education programs available in North America,” says Jeff Curtis, NACAT president.

"In addition to an outstanding program, the NACAT Education Foundation will present various scholarships to aid automotive educators in their endeavor to be the best teacher they can be," says the organization. "These include the NACAT Education Foundation New Automotive Teacher Award, two Gates Corp. Scholarships, the Delmar-Cengage Jack Erjavec INNOVATIVE Instructor Scholarship, and the Mitchell1 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student Scholarship."

The trade show on Wednesday, July 20, from 6 - 9 p.m. and Thursday, July 21, from 9 a.m. - noon will feature exhibits on the latest in technology and resources to help instructors keep abreast of changes in the industry. Other events include the NACAT Education Foundation Silent Auction, with all items being donated from the membership to help support the NACAT Education Foundation's purpose to provide scholarships and grants primarily for the improvement of automotive education, to teachers, schools and students of automotive and related technologies.
