A Fiat safety recall involves reprogramming the transmission control module on 2017-2019 Fiat 124 Spider vehicles.

Some of the vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission exhibit electrical noise in the range signal while driving in Drive mode (including Manual mode). Due to inappropriate control logic  of the clutch control software in the TCM, this signal noise may cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift, causing an abrupt deceleration of the drive wheels.

Reprogramming to the latest calibration is required.
