Nominations are open for the 2025 Best Young Tech Award, presented by Motor Age. We’re looking for bright technicians between the ages of 21 and 35 who are moving the industry forward and are passionate about their work.
Candidates can nominate themselves, or be nominated by someone else.
Qualifications to be considered for Best Young Tech:
Technicians must be between the ages of 21 and 35.
Candidates must have at least two years of professional industry experience.
Technicians must be ASE-certified
Candidates should show evidence of career development, innovation in their role, technical or educational achievements, community service, and/or importance in the shop where they work.
A panel of industry professionals will judge all candidates.
The grand prize winner will receive:
A feature profile story in the October issue of Motor Age magazine
A trip to the 2025 AAPEX and SEMA Show in Las Vegas
Presentation of the Best Young Tech Award at AAPEX
Tool and equipment prizes from the contest sponsors
After more than a dozen years working as a newspaper reporter in Kansas, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, Joy Kopcha joined Auto Service Professional as senior editor in 2014, and was named managing editor in 2022. Now, she's the managing editor of Motor Age, as well as Modern Tire Dealer. During her newspaper career she covered everything from murder trials to a prison riot, plus more government meetings than she cares to remember.
