Kia recalls 257,998 Optima vehicles

Kia is recalling certain 2012-2013 Optima vehicles due to headliner plate not secured properly.

Kia is recalling certain 2012-2013 Optima vehicles. Over 257,000 total vehicles affected.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the right and lift headliner plate may not be secured properly, which can result in the plates detaching in the event of a side curtain air bag deployment, potentially striking an occupant. 

To remedy this situation, dealers  will secure the headliner plates, free of charge.

Notification letters are expected to be sent out by September 26, 2022. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. The recall number for Kia is SC245. 

To check to see if your vehicle has an open recall, visit NHTSA's website and enter the vehicle's 17-digit vehicle identification number.
