Shop owner Ajay Punian is dedicated to providing low-cost, and even no-cost, repairs to those in need at his shop, Fix IT Spot, located in Yuba City, Calif.
From $45 brake jobs per tire to free estimates, repair costs won't exceed $150, according to a report by The Appeal-Democrat.
Punian noted that if a repair takes him less than 10 minutes, he won't charge the customer.
For Punian, it gives him joy to help his customers. Many of his recent customers have been living in their vehicles or are single mothers who have broken heaters and window issues, the news source reported.
“It’s freezing outside at night and it’s too cold for them to be driving around without heat,” Punian said.
Punian's ultimate goal is to start a more in-depth auto repair program.
“This is how people better their lives,” the shop owner said. “You have low-income housing, you have food stamps and stuff like that, but there’s not a lot of options out there for low-income car repair. I’m hoping that one of these will be in every city and that the county would sponsor us just to do low income.”
