Pella, Iowa-based Matco Tools distributor Mark May talks with VehicleServicePros.com, the official website of Professional Distributor magazine, about why Matco Tools ADV Impact Sockets have been a big seller for him as of late.
The parallel nose down design of the Matco Tools ADV Impact Sockets lets technicians reach into tight corners more easily, instead of reaching for more tools. A 150-degree chamfer on the socket end increases contact area between the socket and the fastener to improve grab and reduce the likelihood of rounding fastener corners and Matco's proprietary Opti-Torque system, applies torque to the fastener sides, giving users more power. High visibility laser and impression-stamped markings allow for easy and fast identification, as well as accessibility, even in poorly lit work areas. The tail down feature makes it fast and easy to remove sockets from pneumatic tools.
VSP: What is one tool or piece of equipment you are currently selling that is generating a significant amount of interest/purchases among your customers?
May: Matco Tools ADV Impact Sockets are a really quality product with a lifetime warranty, and purchases are usually price point driven. I have been moving a lot of them in recent months.
VSP: What kinds of tips do you incorporate or strategies do you use in order to sell Matco Tools ADV Impact Sockets?
May: Once you sell a set in a shop, it just goes from there and other guys see that and are interested. Also, once a guy buys a set, he usually likes them so well that he’ll continue to buy in the future.
VSP: What are some of the key features of Matco Tools ADV Impact Sockets that make them stand out from the other tools and equipment you are selling at this time?
May: Since it is a Matco product and I stock it, they get their warranty immediately. That means a lot to them.
VSP: How long has this been a big seller for you?
May: It’s really come on strong the last six to nine months. I think just more and more people are buying the product. The more the product is out there, the more questions get asked, and it just goes from there.
