Virginia Auto Service, a Phoenix, Ariz., repair shop servicing Asian, European and domestic vehicles houses one giant box. Charles, Ferguson, the automotive technician who has spent the last 18 years working for this shop is the owner of the Snap-on Epic series tool box. “If you are going to have $100,000 worth of tools you need a box worthy of holding them. It's the box of my dreams.”

Ferguson has been building this box for five years. “Now it’s finally done, I’m not going any bigger,” he says.

The box is comprised of two side lockers, three bookshelves, a 60” top box, a 60” bottom box, a 72” bottom box and a hutch.

“The hutch is my favorite part,” says Ferguson. “It's high and I can sit and research on the computer comfortably and spread out diagrams if needed. And, because I spend a lot of time here writing work orders on it, everything I need is right there at my fingertips.”

The hutch offers LED lighting that automatically turns on when the hutch opens, and he prefers this to a 4’ fluorescent light.

Ferguson also likes the “sheer size” of his Snap-on box. “When you see it in person, it kinda just puts everybody that sees it in awe, but I love the fact that it has 12 power outlets.”

He uses the outlets to keep his box “nice and clean” and to organize his PC, his laptop and his other battery-powered tools.

Another aspect of the box that stands out to Ferguson are the bookshelves, which offer room for “whatever you need.” Ferguson says the rims on the box are nice and “add a little something extra.”

Ferguson’s favorite tool in his box is the ATS Labscope. “With today's cars and technology it's a tool that I use a lot and without it would make my job a lot harder to diagnose some of the problems that a lab scope makes easy.”
