Application

The Mayhew Tools Master Socket Bit Sets in Custom Cut Foam Trays are available in three versions. The 36-pc Torx Master Socket Bit Set (No. 16063F), 26-pc Metric Hex Master Socket Bit Set (No. 16065F), and 18-pc Triple Square Master Socket Bit Set (No. 16066F) are appropriate for any application where a socket bit could be used, including tightening and loosening applications, installing, repairing, and securing.

Origin

These sets were developed due to the need/request for higher quality insert socket bits available as sets that were reasonably priced. The foam component was to offer organization over simple packaging that also provided improved functionality and durability over plastic trays. Since the pieces in insert socket bit sets can easily become misplaced or unorganized due to their small size and the number of pieces typically included in a set, the custom-cut foam tray keeps everything organized, easily accessible, and conveniently stored.

Features and benefits

  • Each set will have the technician ready for a wide range of tasks and applications with a comprehensive variety of the most popular bit sizes -- the Torx Master Socket Bit Set offers 36 different size bits, the Metrix Hex Master Socket Bit Set offers 26 different size bits, and the Triple Square Master Socket Bit Set offers 18 different size bits.
  • The tray is solvent-resistant for on-the-job durability.
  • The tray fits into most tool chests and drawers, allowing for easy access and organization.
  • Buying all the bits in a set proves more economical for the technician as opposed to purchasing each bit individually, and receiving the custom-cut foam tray with each set option will help protect their investment.
  • Each set includes a variety of long and short bits offered in convenient custom-cut foam trays, color-coded by type of socket and that display each part number.
  • Designed to fit standard ratchets and power tools, these sets can be used with a variety of equipment already owned by the technician.

Manufacturing/engineering specifications

The bits are made in Mayhew’s Florida location on CNC machines and the sets are assembled at the same location. The weights of each set of tools in the foam tray are: No. 16063F – 5.15 lb, No. 16065F – 5.4 lb, and No. 16066F – 6.3 lb. Each bit is made from S2 tool steel with proprietary heat treatment for superior strength and durability, and the sockets are chrome plated.
