Question: Can an automated inspection identify non-wear-related tire issues?

    Answer:

If you’re using UVeye automotive solutions in your service drive, it certainly can and will identify issues with tires, even if they aren’t related to wear. Although visible damage like excessive treadwear, scrubbing, and uneven wear can be visibly seen on a walkaround by a human, other issues can easily slip by unnoticed.

For example, a tire puncture with the screw or nail still in the tire might go unnoticed by the service advisor if the tire isn’t deflating. Or, an underinflated tire or a sidewall cut on the inside may not be detectable while the car is on the ground. An automated inspection using UVeye’s Artemis or Atlas systems can see it so you can more accurately advise the owner. It even identifies tire expiration dates.
