Case Study: Mitsubishi Endeavor will not start

Sept. 14, 2022
Fixing a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor LS 3.8L that will not start.

Vehicle: 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor LS 3.8L

Problem: Customer states that the vehicle will not start.

Case details: The technician confirmed the vehicle would not start, then bypassed the alarm system, and the vehicle started and ran fine. However, when you take the key out of the ignition, all power is gone. The dome lights don’t turn on, hazards will not flash, and headlights won't turn on. The technician checked the fuses for the headlamps where they switch from power to ground and they are good.

Confirmed repair: To fix this, the technician wound up replacing the ETACS ECU, programmed the VIN and keys, and now the vehicle starts and power to the lights and accessories has been restored.
