CRKT releases a line of fully-utilitarian maintenance tools

Designer Ryan Glasgow wanted to create a multi-tool that’s both highly useful and fun to use.

The Twist & Fix maintenance tools take care of the basic necessities for everyday repair jobs.

Designer Ryan Glasgow wanted to create a multi-tool that’s both highly useful and fun to use. Instead of being housed in fixed, eternal bearings, each element in the five-rod torx and hex tool set revolves around a central axle, lengthening the tool you need and keeping the others out of the way. They’re held together with a low-profile frame, snapping in and out with ease so your workflow remains uninterrupted. Each one offers a different set of tools.

Of his multi-tools, Glasgow says, “The design is based on an old mechanical linkage called a bent-pin coupler. In its original incarnation, it would have been used to change directions of a spinning shaft—with all moving parts and pins being fixed in place—as part of a larger machine. The bent-pins on the Twist & Fix are similarly arranged, but revolve instead around a central axle in a neat little package of spinning parts. I'm happy that with the help of CRKT, we were able to find a useful application for this interesting assembly.”
