Q: How did the tool/equipment function as far as saving you time?

A: I used this scan tool for several weeks as my first “go-to” tool for pulling and clearing codes, performing some service resets, looking at live data, and completing monitors on several vehicles. Since it is a handheld unit with no VCI, there was no waiting for the scan tool to connect, and it was very fast to identify the vehicle and perform those basic functions.

Q: What kind of setup was involved before using the product?

A: There was no setup required with the tool, however, there is a smartphone app that can be downloaded and connected via Bluetooth that allows for storing health reports and access to a verified fix database.

Q: How easy was it to use?

A: The tool is very easy and intuitive to use.

Q: How was its packaging? Did it come with any accessories?

A: A small carrying case and a USB cable were included for future updates

Q: Was there a manual included? If so, did you use the manual, and was the manual easy to understand?

A: There was a small manual included that included basic functions and instructions for downloading the app and connecting the tool to Bluetooth on your phone.

Q: What features did you like?

A: The speed at which it connected to my Mercedes Sprinter and pulled global and manufacturer-specific codes was impressive. It also successfully cleared all the codes from several other models such as Honda, Toyota, and VW

Q: What types of jobs/repairs did you use this tool for? Please provide a few specific examples.

A: Checking codes on a 2014 Mercedes Sprinter and clearing codes after the repair. Quick pre-scan for codes on a 2005 Honda Element and viewing live data in the PCM for drivability issues. I was able to quickly identify an abnormally high MAP reading, indicating a need for a valve adjustment and confirm readings were normal after the valve adjustment was performed. Scanned several other vehicles for codes at the beginning of the diagnostic process.

Q: How does this tool compare to other tools you’ve used like it?

A: As a professional technician, I was not expecting much of this scan tool. It operates and feels very much like a DIY-style tool normally sold at parts stores. I would normally own a much more capable tool, so I did not have to depend on the shop-supplied scan tool. However, I could see this being a good scan tool for a brand-new technician that wanted to be able to check and clear codes and perform basic resets required after a battery replacement or maintenance procedure. A general service technician would be able to afford and use this tool efficiently until he had the experience and need for a higher-level tool.

Q: Is there anything you had questions or concerns about in regard to the tool?

A: My first impression was that this scan tool was too flimsy to survive a working technician that is admittedly rough on their equipment. All of my tools travel in my van and end up in a pile at the end of the day being bounced around until I am done and can organize my toolbox/van. I was intentionally rough on this tool and being in Florida in July, it was exposed to intense heat and the occasional downpour when I was working outside. It has handled it all well and is still going strong.
