Q: How did the tool/equipment function as far as saving you time?
A: I've been using the Work IQ Tools IQ Vise for almost a month now. I'm impressed with the versatility that Work IQ Tools built in with the interchangeable jaw inserts for specific tasks and with the optional accessories. I believe that the vise could save time for certain projects where using a typical bench vise would require being creative.
Q: How has using this tool impacted your shop's profitability?
A: I'm not sure I can relate using the IQ Vise to profitability in the shop without a longer period of time to create that baseline for reference.
Q: How was its packaging? Did it come with any accessories?
A: All items came packaged in cardboard boxes with clear plastic windows to view the products. The vise came with multi-purpose jaw inserts, a set of multi-purpose inserts, woodworking inserts, pipe inserts, leather inserts for soft items, and an accessory kit that includes three flexible arms. There is one of each insert that holds an included flashlight, a 6" magnifying lens, and a spring-loaded X-style cell phone holder. Personally, I could use another of the magnetic bases so I can use the light and the cell phone holder at the same time.
Q: Was there a manual included? If so, did you use the manual, and was the manual easy to understand?
A: There are instructions included, with pictures.
Q: What features did you like?
A: The interchangeable sleeves and multiple-angle lockable positioning make this pretty great to use compared to the old standard bench/pipe vise, which still has plenty of uses in the shop, especially for heavier jobs.
Q: Is there any way you could think to improve or add to this tool?
A: If I had to recommend any improvements, I would say a brighter flashlight or maybe a spring clip-style holder that would accept other lights. A heavy duty offering would do well in my opinion.
Q: What types of jobs/repairs did you use this tool for?
A: I used the IQ Vise for some odd-fitting projects with great success. I used the multi-purpose inserts to hold the string trimmer while I rewound the head with string, it was much easier than trying to hold it between my knees. I took the opportunity to use the vise with the multi-purpose jaws and sharpened the lawnmower blade. Unfortunately, I haven't found a chance to use the woodworking or leather inserts yet.
Q: How does this tool compare to other tools you've used like it?
A: The interchangeable sleeves and multiple-angle lockable positioning make this pretty great to use compared to the old standard bench/pipe vise, especially for heavier jobs.
Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate this tool overall? Why?
A: Overall I'd say this is a solid nine out of 10, no complaints.
