Q: How did the tool/equipment function as far as saving you time?
A: Having such a complete set in an easy-to-grab organized set saves time when you're not sure of the exact size you're going to need.
Q: How has using this tool impacted your shop's profitability?
A: Having quality tools cuts down on downtime waiting for a tool truck or purchasing several of the same tools because they are always breaking.
Q: What kind of setup was involved before using the product?
A: Open up the box and you're all set.
Q: How easy was it to use?
A: They are as easy as any other socket or hand tool.
Q: How was its packaging? Did it come with any accessories?
A: It was in a box that showed the set in its open case so you could see what was in it. I would have to say that the case is an accessory. It is a nice hard case that has the sizes for the sockets molded in. You also get a CARBYNE TOOLS sticker for your toolbox.
Q: Was there a manual included? If so, did you use the manual, and was it easy to understand?
A: No manual was included.
Q: What features did you like?
A: The S-2 steel bits are rugged enough for daily use. The sockets are well-marked making it easy enough to read their sizes. The hard case has a spot for each socket and the size is molded into it.
Q: Is there any way you could think to improve or add to this tool?
A: I would like to see the size on the bit itself. That’s not a shortcoming of the tool, it’s probably because I’ve always had to keep extra bits for when they broke in my other sockets and it made it faster to grab the right one. It would be nice if it were easier to tell which ones were SAE and metric at a glance.
Q: What types of jobs/repairs did you use this tool for?
A: I did a few simple sensor changes on a Mercedes using some Torx. I used an extended Torx to remove the front driveshaft from a Ram truck and it held up to impact use just fine. I busted a 17mm Allen manual transmission fill plug that didn’t want to come loose. The socket worked great. I’m confident that these sockets will continue to perform great in the future.
Q: How does this tool compare to other tools you've used like it?
A: I have used several other brands of these sockets from tool trucks to big box stores. The chrome sockets and bits and fitment to the bolts are every bit as good as the tool truck brands and exceed the quality of store-bought sets. I believe the quality of this set to be comparable to the sets from the tool trucks but at a much lower cost.
Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate this tool overall?
A: 9.5. This is a very complete set that has almost every size I've needed over the years. There are a few larger long Torx and metric Allen sockets that I use but they are for more of a specific use. Making it easier to determine metric sizes from SAE would be helpful.
