Q: How did the tool function as far as saving you time?
A: Having a quality multi-tool available for EDC while at work allows me to get tasks done faster, keeping me from having to stop what I am doing to look for a knife, pliers, etc.
Q: How has using this tool impacted your shop’s profitability?
A: A multi-tool is all about basic tool access — having what you need available and available quickly. Having what you need on you so you don’t have to stop and search means you can get more done.
Q: What kind of setup was involved before using the product?
A: Open the package and get to work.
Q: How easy was it to use?
A: Easy, but the Phillips screwdriver could use a fingernail groove to aid in tool access.
Q: How was its packaging? Did it come with any accessories?
A: Packaging was typical for the product type. No accessories were included or needed due to the nature of the product.
Q: What features did you like?
A: The spring-loaded pliers allow easy one-handed manipulation. Both the knife blade and the saw were easily opened with one hand. The knife was sharp out of the box, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it held an edge with heavy use.
Q: Is there any way you could think to improve or add to this tool?
A: I personally use a multi-tool as just part of my EDC, so for me, the carabiner clip was of little value and got caught up on my pockets. If I were to purchase one, I would select a model without it, but if I were in a trade where I carried a tool or medical bag, or even for putting on a backpack for hiking or camping, I can see where the carabiner clip would be a nice plus.
Q: What types of jobs/repairs did you use this tool for?
A: Typical EDC-type activities, lots of unboxing products at work and home, and the knife got heavy use. The wire cutters came in handy for cutting zip-ties and pallet strapping. The pliers were used extensively. They were handy for pulling wire as well as for holding small fasteners while tightening locknuts.
Q: Have you used a previous version of this tool? How does this tool compare to other tools you’ve used like it?
A: I have not used a Coast multi-tool before, but I was very impressed with the quality, especially at the price point. Its quality rivals some much higher-priced competitors in the multi-tool market.
Q: Is there anything you had questions or concerns about in regard to the tool?
A: The wire cutters could be sharper, and the aforementioned difficulty accessing the Phillips screwdriver attachment.
Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate this tool overall? Why?
A: Nine — overall, I was very impressed with the quality, especially at the price point it's sold at. A solid multi-tool that performed well and looks like it will hold up to years of use.
