IMR, an automotive research company, has released its latest findings on independent repair shops and their competitors.

IMR asked independent automotive repair shops who they perceive to be their biggest competitors. Their views of their top competitors are very consistent with channel share metrics tracked by IMR.

While most independent repair shops say they have no competitors, according the study, 37 percent of independent shops say specialty repair shops are their biggest competitors, followed by other independent repair shops (33 percent) and new car dealers (26 percent).
