Ask the Expert: What are some challenges that come about due to increased vehicle connectivity?

The biggest challenge is definitely more data.

Q: Ask the Expert: What are some challenges that come about due to increased vehicle connectivity?

A: The biggest challenge is definitely more data. More data is not the same as big data, and it definitely does not mean the data is actionable.

If a fleet gets a hundred emails about faults on its trucks, and each one requires time to understand the issue, results in phone calls to multiple people, angers drivers waiting to hear something… logging into multiple systems… that does not add a great amount of value.

With connectivity must come communication, collaboration and integration, so that the entire service supply chain, not just the fleet, can effectively manage service events.
