SkyBitz, leader in remote asset tracking and information management solutions and TMW Systems, a leading provider of transportation management solutions, today announced an integrated solution for improved trailer maintenance. The integrated SkyBitz /TMT Fleet Maintenance–SQL solution provides for-hire and private fleet carriers a more robust portfolio of solutions for managing their fleets.
The integration utilizes industry-leading visibility and management services from SkyBitz, directly delivering trailer specific information to TMW System's TMT Fleet Maintenance-SQL solution. The integrated solution helps bolster fleet maintenance efficiencies and improve asset uptime. This is the latest step in SkyBitz's overall integration efforts with TMW Systems, adding to its existing integrations with TMWSuite®, TruckMate® and Innovative IES® TMS applications.
The combined solution will provide customers of both companies the ability to centrally monitor and track trailers within their fleet maintenance management software to gain accurate location, mileage and trailer sensor status information. Specifically, the integration will help fleet maintenance managers better maintain their equipment, avoid missed preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and prevent costly breakdowns. Fleet maintenance managers will benefit from the following key features:
- Automatic notification of trailer arrival at a maintenance location for PM service: Alerts managed by The DAWG exception notification module from TMW will notify key maintenance personnel that a trailer is not only due for service but that the trailer is near a maintenance center.
- Ability to generate PM schedules based on trailer mileage information: Mileage information serves as an indicator that a trailer is due for a PM service based on how many miles it has run.
- Trailer mileage information: This information can be used as a basis for running cost reports and obtain accurate cost per mile records in order to better manage expenses for maintenance items such as tires and breaks.
- Sensor information: Identifies whether a trailer is empty or loaded and if a trailer is in use or available for a PM service.
"TMW is pleased to continue to expand the growing base of integrations we share with our strategic partner SkyBitz. TMT Fleet Maintenance customers can benefit from our relationship with SkyBitz through more automated trailer maintenance scheduling and greater utilization," stated Mike August, TMW Systems VP and GM, TMW Asset Maintenance.
"We are excited to provide even more value to our customers by expanding our overall integration partnership with TMW Systems," said Henry Popplewell, Senior Vice President and General Manager, SkyBitz. "Trailer maintenance is a costly area for fleets. Integrating our asset management information with TMW's fleet maintenance solution will greatly improve preventive maintenance efficiency and help avoid costly downtime for our customers."
The integrated trailer tracking and monitoring capability is now available with the most recent version of TMT Fleet Maintenance–SQL in Release 13.30. Details on the integration capabilities will be available at the SkyBitz exhibit booth #320 at TransForum 2013, TMW Systems User Group Conference, September 22-25, in Anaheim, CA.
