Omnitracs, LLC announced the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) has determined that Omnitracs’ network architecture meets all requirements for continued operations in support of the Defense Transportation Tracking System (DTTS). With this determination by the United States Department of the Army’s SDDC, fleets using Omnitracs’ satellite-based solutions for mobile fleet management continue to be eligible to carry loads of sensitive cargo, such as ammunition, for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies.
The formal requirements for compliance with DoD criteria are:
- Redundant hardware and satellite infrastructure and architecture
- A separate, fully functional contingency network operations center site to ensure continuous operations
- Qualified technical staff available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
DTTS provides oversight and monitors all commercial carriers transporting arms, ammunition, explosives and other sensitive material within the United States for the DoD. Omnitracs’ network architecture ensures the company’s primary network operations center and backup site are in compliance for continued operations and in-transit monitoring service.
“I’m proud to say that we’ve been supporting DTTS for more than 25 years, helping fulfill their mission of safety, security and in-transit visibility,” said Kevin Hagen, vice president and chief information officer of Omnitracs. “This recertification is a testament to our ongoing commitment to providing the best-in-class network infrastructure to meet the unique needs of all of our fleet customers and their consignees.”
