Ford Motor Company and Telogis introduced the new generation of Ford’s factory-fit commercial telematics platform, Ford Telematics powered by Telogis, providing exclusive information and metrics about vehicle and driver performance that can help drive efficiencies and productivity for companies with mobile workers. The new brand offering will replace Ford’s existing Ford Crew Chief powered by Telogis telematics brand and product in the U.S. and Canada.
“Commercial trucks have to be more than delivery boxes on wheels, and innovations like Ford Telematics are critical to helping our fleet customers succeed,” said Raj Nair, Ford chief technical officer and group vice president, Global Product Development. “Ford, in coordination with Telogis, is leading the development of smart solutions for hard-working fleets so they can maximize their operations to better serve their customers.”
Ford Telematics leverages Ford-exclusive data from the vehicle, giving Ford customers visibility into the work day of every driver or technician in the field – helping them to run more efficient routes and save on fuel, provide better service to their own customers and encourage safe driving habits with features such as audible in-cab alerts for speeding, hard braking, harsh acceleration and more.
Ford Telematics is designed for any size commercial fleet and is deeply integrated with Ford commercial vehicles. It provides exclusive metrics and insights and is available factory-fit or after market, giving fleets access to actionable analytics such as dashboards and improved reports detailing key metrics including fuel use, driver and vehicle performance, route compliance and more.
“With the launch of Ford Telematics, we renew our commitment to providing Ford customers with a best-in-class, mission-critical platform on which they can manage every aspect of their mobile business,” said Jason Koch, president, Telogis Fleet and co-founder at Telogis. “The key benefit to customers is that it’s simple: you can order Ford Telematics so that it comes off the line with the technology built right in, and because it’s a Ford-branded offering it’s warrantied and can be financed with the vehicle.”
Ford Telematics is available today in the U.S. and Canada for 2009 or newer models of the following vehicles:
- Ford Super Duty and F-150 pickups – part of the F-Series line-up, the best-selling trucks in the U.S. for 38 years ·
- Transit – the best-selling full-size van in the U.S. · Transit Connect – with best-in-class EPA-estimated fuel efficiency ratings
- E-Series vans
- 2013 and newer Ford Interceptor sedan and utility models – leading law enforcement vehicle sales in the U.S. – through the Ford Telematics powered by Telogis Law Enforcement Edition
The system will be introduced on F-650/F-750 trucks for the 2016 model year.
Additionally, Ford Telematics soon will be available around the world for Ford commercial customers.
“We want to have one solution that customers can rely on no matter where in the world they do business and where they are buying Ford vehicles,” said Nair. “They will be able to walk into a dealer in North America or Germany or Australia or anywhere and ask for one brand, one product.”
