A concern with the G85 steering angle sensor should be diagnosed through the fault code listed, or using MVB 7 in address 44 Steering Assistance (on equipped vehicles), or MVB 4 in address 03 Brake Electronics.
The sensor should read 0 degrees (+/- 3 degrees) in the straight ahead position and over 500 degrees at each end stop. The end stop readings should be close to each other, where one stop will be a positive reading and the opposite a negative reading.
