This bulletin applies to 2016-2017 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles built on or after June 20, 2016, and before March 31, 2017, equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Customers may experience a MIL on. Technicians may find the following DTCs stored in memory:

P0705-00 (transmission range sensor A circuit (PRNDL input)

P0706-00 (transmission range sensor performance)

Concerns may involve an intermittent no-crank, no-start. This may require replacement of the transmission range sensor (TRS).

Using a scan tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in Service Library/TechCONNECT, verify that all related systems are functioning as designed. If any additional DTCs are found, record and address these before continuing. Replace the TRS. Using wiTECH, clear all DTCs that may have been set in any module during the repair procedure.
