This bulletin applies to 2016-2018 Subaru WRX vehicles. New VDC control module & hydraulic units(VDCCM&H/U) are available to address isolated customer concerns of the green Hill Holder light blinking and the cancel warning alarm sounding during cranking/starting the engine.

This applies to EPB (electronic parking brake) equipped models only. The new control units were incorporated into production starting with VIN J9813910.

The new hydraulic unit assemblies are available as follows:

P/N ……………………MODEL YEAR

7596VA033..................2016

27596VA073................2017

27596VA101................2018

When battery voltage drops during high current draw conditions experienced while cranking the engine, the VDCCM&H/U may detect an incorrect value. As a result, the Hill Holder warning lamp in the combination meter may start to blink. In addition, the cancel alarm chirp sound for the Hill Holder system may also occur when the engine starts.

When the VDCCM&H/U is replaced, be sure to perform the selection registration operation. Be sure to use the Subaru Select Monitor for the selection and registration of parameter. If the registration is not properly performed, the DTC “Parameter selection error” is detected together with the ABS/EBD/VDC warning light illumination.
