Ford Flex Throttle Body Issue

Some 2015-2016 Ford Flex vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine and built on or before May 31, 2016, may exhibit an intermittent loss of power.

Some 2015-2016 Ford Flex vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine and built on or before May 31, 2016, may exhibit an intermittent loss of power and/or an illuminated powertrain module malfunction (wrench lamp) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2111, P2112 and/or P2119 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory.

Using a scan tool, check for DTCs. If only the afore-mentioned DTCs are present, check for historical DTCs. If those same DTCs are present in PCM memory, visually inspect the throttle body (ETB) wiring harness, connector and terminals for damage, corrosion and/or poor connection. Check intake air piping and connections for damage/leaks. Check the throttle body plate for damage or foreign material. If no concerns are found at this point, replace the ETB.
