Traditionally, to design a product to communicate with vehicles, tool manufacturers need to build / buy communications hardware, license vehicle-specific datastreams, and build an application. Of these requirements, the vehicle datastream is the most complex and time-consuming. Since the datastream will typically only work on a specific vehicle or model line, data must be added to effectively reach a broad target market. What’s more, the licensed datastream may be incomplete, loosely validated documents -- if available at all. After consolidating the datastream, the data still has to be validated. Finally, the developing company can begin making the product. Giotto AS is a paradigm shift in developing vehicle diagnostics products. AutoEnginuity's Giotto AS (Application Server) is platform-neutral and can be integrated into any computing platform or mobile device. It offers the first ever turn-key vehicle communications solution, according to the company, and allows a developing company time-to-market never seen before for 58 OEMs. A company can connect and communicate with Giotto AS via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or ethernet. The server is controlled by JSON-base format protocol. For example, retrieving trouble codes from all systems on a vehicle, users need only send “retrieve_dtcs." The Giotto AS will respond with a package of DTCs for each controller on the vehicle. It’s that easy, the hardware protocols and the vehicle datastream are completely hidden from the application.
