OAC honors Jack Mezadurian with Lifetime Achievement Award
Jack Mezadurian, president of Eximus Corp. of Farmingdale, N.Y., was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Overseas Automotive Council (OAC) of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) at the Council’s annual meeting in New York on Dec. 6.
“Jack Mezadurian has served the export community for more than 33 years,” said Steven Dreyfus, managing director of Dreyfus Global Trade LLC and the 2012 OAC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, in presenting the award. “Jack has built friendships and business relationships throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas, but he has always said that the value of the friendships he’s made have far outweighed the value of the dollars he’s brought in.”
In 1980, Mezadurian started Liberty Automotive Inc., which later became Liberty World Trade. The firm’s initial market focus was on Turkey, the country from which he had emigrated to the U.S. in 1964. Mezadurian expanded Liberty’s market reach to Europe and South America.
He also was instrumental in founding the former Falcon Steering Systems, a company that became a significant presence in the global aftermarket and is known for its steering and suspension products. Today, Mezadurian is the founder and president of Eximus Corp., which continues Liberty’s tradition of providing export services to its diverse global customer base.
Mezadurian has been an active supporter and longtime member of OAC throughout his years at Liberty World Trade, Falcon Steering Systems and Eximus Corp.
“People who’ve worked with my father have acknowledged and appreciated the forthright manner in which he approaches business and life,” said Richard Mezadurian, managing director, Global Automotive Products Inc. “He’s never quite understood what ‘can’t’ means. He will always find a way to achieve his goals.”
