Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance contributes $15,000 to University of the Aftermarket Foundation
Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance shareholders and supplier channel partners helped raise more than $15,000 for the University of the Aftermarket Foundation by participating in recreational events during the Alliance's winter shareholder meeting at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Miami.
The recent donation follows a $100,000 donation made to the foundation in 2013 in memory of Walter Spence Jr., beloved Alliance board director. An additional $55,000 was raised during a golf tournament held in honor of Spence during the group’s winter shareholder meeting the same year.
“We felt as though we had established a meaningful precedent with the golf tournament and we wanted to keep that momentum going,” said Tim Lee, Alliance shareholder and chairman of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation. “We were proud to see so many of the 400 attendees contribute to such a worthy industry organization as the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.”
Alliance shareholders and supplier channel partners were invited to participate in their choice of deep-sea fishing, poker, tennis or a golf tournament. Upon registering, attendees had the option of donating to the University of the Aftermarket Foundation. The result was a significant contribution to the foundation to help strengthen the future of the auto care industry through scholarships, grants and educational opportunities.
