In Focus: Automotive Test Solutions Bullseye Leak Detector

March 4, 2015
The Bullseye Leak Detector works on all sealed systems by pressurizing the sealed system with system-safe CO2.

The Automotive Test Solutions Bullseye Leak Detector accurately finds all size leaks with Pressures from 0.5 psi to 150 psi. The Bullseye Leak Detector works on all sealed systems by pressurizing the sealed system with system-safe CO2. The Bullseye advanced electronic CO2 Leak Detector is used to locate the approximate area of the leak. The technician then sprays the non-toxic Bullseye Leak Seeker Foam on the area to pinpoint the leak. The Leak Seeker Foam changes color from red to yellow at the exact leak site. Bullseye Leak Detector finds leaks in EVAP systems, A/C systems, engine cooling systems, head gaskets, tires and wheels, air ride suspensions, air brakes and much more.

Selling points

According to the company, the Bullseye Leak Detector is the only leak detection system that works on all sealed systems. It is the only leak detection system that will find very small leaks to very large leaks, it is the only leak detection system that uses the systems own operating pressure. Pressures from 0.5 psi to 1,000 psi can be used. (Bullseye kit regulation .5 PSI to 150 PSI). The Bullseye Leak Detector is the only leak detection system that uses advanced CO2 electronics to locate leak locations. It is also only leak detection system that has Leak Seeker Foam. This foam is easy to spray on to the leak site area, where it will change color from red to yellow and show the exact leak site location.

Features and benefits

Finding leaks can be a very difficult job where many labor hours can be lost. The Bullseye Leak Detector uses system safe CO2 to quickly find and identify leak locations. This method allows leak sizes smaller than 1/10,000" to be located quickly and accurately. According to the company, the leak site can be found in less than 20 minutes. This time-saving method saves hundreds of dollars in labor time.

Application

Bullseye Leak Detector finds leaks in EVAP systems, A/C systems, engine cooling systems, internal combustion head gaskets, tires and wheels, air ride suspensions, air brakes, engine oil leaks and more.

Origin

The Bullseye Leak Detector was developed after spending four hours of time in order to find an EVAP leak on a BMW. At this point, it was obvious that there were no reliable methods for a shop to use in order to find small leaks. Visible smoke does not come out leak sites that are smaller than .020". However the on-board computer will find leak sites of .015". These very small leak sites will produce diagnostic trouble codes that a shop will have to find in order to repair the vehicle. The Bullseye Leak Detector is a product of four years of engineering and development in order for the shop to easily locate the leak sites on all sealed systems.

Manufacturing specs

The Bullseye Leak Detector is manufactured at Automotive Test Solution (ATS) in Albuquerque, N.M.

Storage and display

The Bullseye Leak Detector is sold in one-unit kits. These kits are drop shipped to the distributor. A truck display and demonstration kit is available from ATS.

Demonstration

With a Bullseye truck display, the unit can be demonstrated live in less than five minutes. The Bullseye truck display allows a .005" leak site to be found during the demonstration. If the shop has a smoke machine, this can be connected to the display, proving to the shop that no smoke will be visible.

Testimonial

Rick O'Neal, Technician, Dracut, MA -- "We had a vehicle that had been to two shops and one dealership trying to find a DTC for a large leak in the EVAP system. Our shop had the vehicle in on three different occasions trying to locate the leak. We were unable to find the leak with all conventional equipment. We purchased the Bullseye Leak Detector Kit from ATS in order to repair this vehicle. To our amazement, we found three small leaks in less than 20 minutes. The vehicle was repaired, and now no other tool is used in our shop for leak detection."
