Application
The Electronic SpecialtiesHigh Accuracy Low Current Clamp Meter, No. 683, is designed for electrical troubleshooting where DC amps are the targeted measurement. It can be used to test and diagnose parasitic battery drains, as well as lower charging system currents as high as 60A.
Features and benefits
Provides accurate, repeatable, and precise low current measurements.
Can measure down to 1mA low reading resolution and up to 60A DC/AC.
Clamp opening is large enough to clamp over most battery cables.
Its zeroing circuit is very stable.
Automatically powers off after 15 minutes, saving batteries.
99 records can be stored and recalled later by user.
Origin
Since parasitic drains are one of the most common electrical problems, Electronic Specialties’ goal was to develop an improved low DC current probe to offer highly accurate low-amp measurements. The company also wanted to focus on a more stable zero drift. Zero drift is a fact of life with low current DC amp probes. All of them drift, therefore all DC current probes have a zeroing button or knob. This low current DC probe is ideal with low zero drift.
Manufacturing/engineering specifications
The clamp meter is made from impact-resistant ABS plastic and is lightweight, weighing around 1 lb. It’s powered by a 9V battery and has a clamp size of 16mm by 18mm. It also offers a backlit display for better visibility.
