Jeep Compass Vehicles Have Transmission Problem

This bulletin applies to 2018 Jeep Compass vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine and 9-speed 9HP48 automatic transmission and built on or after Jan. 11, 2018, and on or before Jan. 19, 2018. The transmission valve body may have damaged oil feed tubes.

The customer may describe that the transmission will not shift into 5th gear, or it’s stuck in 4th gear. The MIL may be on and the technician may find the following DTCs set:

P0810-00............clutch position control error
P0734-00............gear 4 shift incorrect ratio
P072F-00............stuck in 4th gear

Remove the valve body from the transmission.
Remove the two oil feed tubes and inspect for damage.
Are one or both of the oil feed tubes damaged/broken? If yes, replace the transmission. If no, replace the oil feed tubes with O-rings, and replace ALL tube O-rings on the remaining six feed tubes. Reassemble and test drive.
