This is very important because if left alone, it can cause not only a filter replacement which is costly to repair, but also a "check engine" light to illuminate with a reduced engine power message or other message relating to the DPF.
To clean a DPF using manual regeneration mode, you can use a specific service tool like the MaxiCheck Pro from Autel or other service tools for diesel engines. Just attach the tool to the DLC and access the module's function to clean the DPF. Some tools will have a built-in step-by-step process, or just a simple "yes" or "no" function. However you handle it, make sure to always look up the information about the DPF regeneration mode in the vehicle's service manual before you start.
