Federal-Mogul Corp., the powertrain and aftermarket parts supplier, is launching a national automotive technician training program.

Garage Gurus will debut this month with regional training centers in four cities, online sessions and other support for technicians, service writers and shop owners, the supplier said. The program also is open to dealership techs and service writers, a spokesman said.

The first four training centers are scheduled to open on April 14 in Chicago, April 16 in Los Angeles, April 21 in New York and in late April in St. Louis.

As many as 15 training centers with a combined reach of more than 67,000 vehicle repair locations are expected to be operating, the company said, by the end of the year. The centers will be staffed by instructors certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
