One of the highlights of the upcoming 2013 Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) Winter Meeting, taking place Feb. 6-7 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Fla., will be a silent auction to benefit the Women’s Board scholarship fund.
“We are really excited about the silent auction at this year’s winter meeting and look forward to raising money for our scholarship fund to help women who are studying to enter the automotive aftermarket,” said Ruth Ehlinger, women's board president, AAA. “Whether or not you’re able to attend the winter meeting, we invite companies to contribute an item valued at $25 or more to be auctioned for this worthwhile cause.”
The women’s board has already received the following items for the silent auction:
- set of four Bridgestone or Firestone tires
- four VIP NASCAR weekend passes, including garage access
- Women Auto Know glove box guide
- two Morton College t-shirts
- snow brush
- $500 Tiffany gift certificate
- $100 Macys gift card
- Indy Race package May 25-27 with two VIP tickets and airfare
- $100 Cabela’s gift card
Silent auction suggestions include automotive products, fashion, travel, food gifts, celebrity-autographed items or gift certificates. Companies can also make a direct donation to the scholarship fund. Donations of items for the silent auction will be accepted until Jan. 31, 2013 and are welcome from WB member and non-member companies. Participants are to bring the donation to the meeting or have it shipped to Orlando. The women’s board awards annual scholarships to female students studying to enter the automotive aftermarket. These young women come from all across the country, applying for two types of scholarships: one for high school seniors who plan on attending an ASE certified postsecondary automobile technology program, and one for students who have completed one year of an ASE certified post-secondary automotive technology program, to complete their education.
The women’s board is comprised of professional women and men from the automotive aftermarket who are dedicated to providing career leadership to women in the automotive aftermarket, providing car care information to female audiences and encouraging young people to investigate opportunities in the automotive aftermarket.
