ACOFAS to hold training on chasing down noises

American Council Of Frame and Alignment Specialists (ACOFAS) is conducting a two day clinic on "Heavy Duty Chassis Vibration Diagnostics."

Every Year Truck Technicians spend countless non-productive hours chasing vibrations, shakes, hops, and rattles that annoy the Truck Driver and damage the truck. ACOFAS, the American Council Of Frame and Alignment Specialists is conducting a two day Technician Education and Training Clinic "Heavy Duty Chassis Vibration Diagnostics." This clinic will be hosted by Bob Steger, owner of Standard Spring and Axle in Dallas, Texas on June 11th and 12th, 2013. The Classroom portion will be held at La Quinta Inn & Suites love field Dallas. The hands-on portion will take place at Standard Spring and Axle, 2511 Hickory Street, Dallas 75226.

This clinic will focus on vibrations that originate from:

  • Wheel Ends
  • Tires
  • Power Steering Pump, Gear Box, Steering column
  • Suspension worn and misalignment of components
  • Engine
  • Clutch, Flywheel, Transmission
  • Drive shafts, angle and balance
  • Drive axle angles and gearing
  • Frame, shake and hop

In shop demonstrations on proper wheel bearing torque, tire mounting, hub, stud, tire and wheel inspection and balancing will be conducted by Mr. Mark Girdner, Field Engineer, Michelin American Truck Tire.   

Registration will be open until May 15th. Cost of the two day clinic is $150 for ACOFAS members, $250 for members of SSA, TARA, NTHECC, CVSN, and HDDA, trade press no charge, all others $350.
