The VISION awards committee announced and awarded the first ever VISION Educator of the Year award during the 2015 VISION HiTech Training & Expo in Overland Park, Kansas.
The award was established to honor an educator that goes above and beyond in inspiring students, developing innovative training programs and working with the industry to further the opportunities for tomorrow's technicians. This award was presented during the VISION Educator Think Tank luncheon on Friday, March 6, 2015.
The 2015 inaugural Educator of the Year Award was presented to Rick Escalambre. Rick is a former shop owner and is currently an instructor at Skyline College in San Bruno, CA, where he has served for the last 29 years. He is a respected author and editor of books in the industry. Rick has also volunteered his time on the Educator Think Tank Committee for the last several years and has helped create and direct the program as well as the live broadcasted panel discussions in 2014 and 2015. "I am honored and humbled to receive VISION's first Educator of the Year award. Being part of VISION is a wonderful experience that I recommend to all technicians across the country," said Rick Escalambre.
"You will be hard pressed to find a more inspiring and motivating educator. Rick embodies the core values the automotive technology field needs in its educators. His students and fellow industry peers alike have a deep respect for Rick. We couldn't be more proud to have him as our first "VISION Educator of the Year" award recipient", praised Sheri Hamilton, VISION Conference Manager and ASA-Midwest Executive Director.
VISION looks forward to continuing this new tradition of honoring excellence in education and leadership in the automotive technology field for many years to come.
