The Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC) is pleased to announce the 2017 winners of the prestigious ATMC National Excellence in Training Awards, naming the submission by Motor Coach Industries as the Grand Award winner, with awards also going to a collaborative effort between General Motors and Raytheon Professional Services and to Bosch Automotive Service Solutions.
A newcomer to the ATMC awards competition, Motor Coach Industries captured the Grand Award with a program submitted by their Technical Training Manager, Scott Crawford, titled "MCI Academy HVAC 101." The 101 class is the first of a four-part training program on the unique HVAC systems critical to the interior environment of a motor coach. The MCI course of study provides training starting with the basics and progressing through advanced troubleshooting while incorporating all the best practices for development and delivery of training.
A collaboration between General Motors and Raytheon Professional Services earned the award for "GM Service Technical College iVideo." This program uses innovative interactive videos to repackage existing training or to create new training to support a blended learning experience for students. Submitted by Chris Wallace, GM Technical Training Integration Manager, and Allan Blascak, GM Program Manager for Raytheon, this the second ATMC award for this partnership in recent years.
The OTC Division of Bosch Automotive Service and Solutions received the ATMC award for their training program titled, "ADAS Camera Calibration and Alignment," submitted by their Technical Instructor, Steven Zack. This program trains technicians on how the camera feature of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) is calibrated, and how the vehicle controller uses this information with algorithms to determine time to impact, proving once again how technicians contribute to saving lives.
All submissions are judged by a panel of peers on how the program addresses critical components that comprise a well-structured training program. A mean average of all judges' scores is used to determine the winners.
The annual ATMC National Excellence in Training Awards helps spotlight highly effective or innovative training programs, and emphasize the importance of training to the success of the transportation industry. The award winners will be honored at the ATMC reception during Industry Week in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Venetian Hotel-Sands Expo Center, Casanova Rooms 604-605 on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017, 5 to 6:30 pm. All with an interest in training are welcome to attend.
