To continue support of employee education and training in the work truck industry, the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) developed a new Truck Equipment 201 module covering powertrain systems. TE201 is a series of online courses, designed for those with technical knowledge seeking deeper understanding of specific topics outlined in the introductory TE101. Powertrain systems — the fourth TE201 course and final of the powertrain module series — reviews vehicle systems that support powertrain function and enable proper engine and emissions compliance.

“A valuable resource for the commercial vehicle industry, this course explains important elements of vehicle systems in a straightforward manner,” said Susan Dehne, senior director of technical services, NTEA.

Topics include:

  • Fuel
  • Air induction
  • Cooling
  • Front end accessory drive
  • Exhaust

The fourth TE201 module builds on powertrain and certification courses launched in 2019. While there are no course prerequisites, users are encouraged to complete TE201 Powertrain before taking this module. To receive a certificate of completion, the learner is required to complete a brief quiz following each of the four sections.

TE101/TE201 courses are available through NTEA’s learning management system, Elevate. After placing the order on Shop NTEA, the learner gains access through ntea.com (members can use current login credentials).

The course is a free benefit to NTEA members and eligible for Member Verification Program credit and continuing education units through our accreditation by International Association for Continuing Education and Training. Nonmembers can purchase access to each TE201 module for $49. Learn more at ntea.com/te201.

TE101/TE201 align with NTEA’s priority on workforce development. The Association identifies current workforce development challenges and global trends affecting the commercial vehicle industry.
