This bulletin applies to 2015-2019 and 2022-2023 Audi A3, A3 Cabriolet and S3 vehicles, 2017-2019 RS3, 2016-2023 TT, TTS and TT Roadster, 2018-2023 TT RS and 2019-2023 Q3 vehicles that experience rattling noises from the front brake areas, due to potential brake shield issue.

1. Remove both front wheels.

2. Remove front brake calipers/brake carriers/brake discs.

3. Check both brake shields. Shields should be secured and seated correctly.

4. If damage and/or excessive corrosion is found in the brake shields, replace as needed. If no damage/corrosion is found, do not replace the shield(s).

Note: to protect new brake shields against corrosion at the mounting points, “wax” preservative must be applied all the way around the contact surfaces of the securing bolts before they are installed. Use cavity preservative sealant P/N D 329 215 M1 for this purpose.
