Checking Chevy battery health

This bulletin applies to 2014-2018 Chevy Silverado, 2015-2018 Suburban and 2015-2018 Tahoe vehicles equipped with the integrated trailer brake controller.

This bulletin applies to 2014-2018 Chevy Silverado, 2015-2018 Suburban and 2015-2018 Tahoe vehicles equipped with the integrated trailer brake controller.

Some owners may comment about a Service Trailer Brake message on the DIC. DTCs may be set in the chassis control module including C111B, C1112, C1113 and/or C1114. In addition, there may be a slow crank condition.

These concerns could be caused by low battery voltage due to a battery issue. Before any in-depth diagnostics are performed, the battery state of health should be checked using the EL-50313 Midtronics GR8 battery charger/tester. Address any battery issues first before continuing with normal diagnostics.
