Some 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.3L GTDI engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL, with a lack of power and DTC P0299. This may be due to the turbocharger wastegate actuator rod becoming disconnected from the wastegate.
Some 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.3L GTDI engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL, with a lack of power and DTC P0299. This may be due to the turbocharger wastegate actuator rod becoming disconnected from the wastegate.

Using a long screwdriver, attempt to move the turbocharger wastegate actuator rod to verify proper attachment. If operation is not correct, remove the engine cover and the turbocharger inlet air duct. Remove and discard the upper turbocharger mounting nuts and studs. Remove the engine front undershield. Remove the lower turbocharger air cooler (CAC) inlet air duct.

Remove the lower turbocharger heat shield retaining bolt and position the heat shield aside.

Reconnect the turbocharger wastegate actuator rod and install the new retainer clip. Install the turbo heat shield. Tighten the new upper turbocharger studs and nuts, tightening the nuts to 37 ft-lb. Tighten the lower heat shield retaining bolt to 89 in-lb. Reinstall the lower turbo CAC inlet air duct. Tighten the lower CAC inlet air duct retaining nuts to 97 in-lb. Tighten the CAC inlet air duct clamps to 44 in-lb.

Install the engine front undershield. Install the turbo inlet air duct, tightening bolts to 97 in-lb and clamp to 44 in-lb. Install the engine cover.
