This TSB refers to 2008 Subaru Impreza models. If the ignition key is held between the ON and START position for more than three seconds, there is the possibility that P0335 can be stored in memory (crankshaft position sensor A circuit). This is caused by an erroneous signal being sent to the ECM. Under normal operation of the ignition switch, this will not occur.
The P0335 will be cleared from memory after four times of normal engine starting.
REPAIR/SERVICE INFORMATION
Step 1: Keep the ignition key at the LOCK position for at least three seconds. Turn the key to the start position. If the engine starts and idles normally, go to Step 2. If not, refer to the applicable service manual for diagnostics.
Step 2: Check the malfunction indicator lamp. If the MIL blinks, go to Step 3. If not, DTC P0335 was set from an erroneous signal.
Step 3: Turn the engine off. Then repeat Steps 1 and 2 three more times. If the MIL still blinks, refer to the applicable service manual for diagnostics. If not, DTC P0335 was set from an erroneous signal.
