This TSB applies to 2011 Dodge Journey, 200, Avenger, Caravan and Town & Country models equipped with the 3.6L engine. The customer may experience a MIL illumination with one or more of the following DTCs.

P06DE: Engine oil pressure control circuit stuck on.

P054A: Cold start exhaust camshaft position timing over-advanced Bank 1, sensor 2.

P054C: Cold start exhaust camshaft position timing over-advanced Bank 2 sensor 2.

P0298: Engine oil temperature too high.

Reprogramming the PCM will correct these conditions.

Using a scan tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify that all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs other than those listed here are present, record them and repair as necessary before proceeding with this bulletin.

NOTE: The wiTECH software level must be at release 12.01 or higher to perform this procedure.

Install a battery charger to ensure that battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow voltage to climb over 13.5 volts during the flash process.

  1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed servuce procedures available in DealerCONNECT or TechCONNECT. Refer to Group 8 – Electrical > Electronic Control Modules – Service Information > Module – Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming.
  2. After PCM reprogramming, the following must be performed:

a. Clear any DTCs that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow clearing.

b. On 62TE equipped vehicles, clear the Variable Line Pressure (VLP) Counters, found in the Misc Function menu for the PCM ECU.

c. On 62TE equipped vehicles, perform the Quick Learn function, found in the Misc Function menu for he TCM ECU.

d. Type the necessary information on the Authorized Modification Label (P/N 04275086AB) and attach it near the VECI label.
