This bulletin applies to 2015 Jeep Compass and Patriot models regarding a flash to improve cold starts and cruise control. A customer may experience a MIL on and may note that the engine is hard to start when cold, and/or the cruise control acceleration feels too fast at low speeds of around 35 mph.

The technician may find DTC P219A (bank 1 air fuel ratio imbalance) and/or P050B (cold start ignition timing performance).

Using a scan tool with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechConnect, verify that all engine systems are functioning as designed. Record and correct any issues before proceeding. Install a battery charger to ensure that battery voltage stays between 13.2 and 13.5 volts during the flash process. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software, and then clear any DTCs that may have set.
