Prior to upgrading the PCM on early-production 2009 Acura RL and TSX, the AcuraLink Update Connector must be disconnected.
On some 2009 RL and TX vehicles, an AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) communication error requires that you disconnect the AcuraLink control unit 5P update connector before performing a PCM update. If the AcuraLink update connector is not disconnected, the PCM may not accept the update, or the engine may not start after the update.
Affected vehicles include the 2009 RL (with Tech Package) from VIN JH4KB266.9C000001 through JH4KB266.9C002248; 2009 TL (with Tech Package) from VIN 19UUA86..9A000001 through 19UUA86..9A006232; and 2009 TSX (with Tech Package) from VIN JH4CU2…9C000001 through JH4CU2…9C033097.
