This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the PCM with new software. The wiTECH software level must be at release 10.04 or higher to perform the procedure. The new software update removes 3rd gear partial lockup and raises 4th gear full lockup speed to 50 mph.
Using a scan tool (StarSCAN) with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify that all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs are present, record and repair as needed before reprogramming.
Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT. Refer to Group 8 – Electrical > Electronic Control Modules – Service Information > Module – Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming – Gas.
After reprogramming, clear any DTCs that may have set in other modules. Type the necessary information on the Authorized Modifications Label and attach it near the VECI label.
